Wake up, Workout, Feel Better

Morning Exercise (3 min 5 sec)

Almost every time I kick off my day with a morning workout, I find myself exceptionally productive throughout the rest of the day.  There are occasions when I lack the time for a morning workout, and there are times when I simply don't feel motivated to exercise in the morning.  However, research shows that knocking out a challenging morning workout in the morning enhances mood and supplies increased energy throughout the day, due to various biological and psychological factors.

When you complete your workout in the morning, you’re not thinking about it for the rest of the day.  And how many times have you not been able to do your workout that you planned to do in the afternoon or evening because something else came up??

The workout doesn’t have to be an hour long session in the gym.  You can crush a 15 min High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout in your living room.  The important thing to remember is that consistency rules the day when it comes to working out.  Completing five 15 minute HIIT workouts throughout the week is more beneficial for your overall health, versus completing one gym session that lasts an hour and a half.

So get up a little earlier and bang out your workout before work or school.  You’ll be glad you did!!

Here's a comprehensive breakdown of why incorporating morning workouts into your daily routine can be incredibly beneficial for your overall well-being:

1. Boosts Energy Levels:

Morning workouts act as a natural energy booster. Engaging in physical activity kick-starts your metabolism, increasing oxygen flow and circulation throughout your body. This surge in energy not only helps you feel more alert but also prepares you to tackle the day's tasks with vigor.

2. Enhances Mood and Mental Clarity:

Exercise triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural mood elevators. Starting your day with a workout can set a positive tone, reducing stress and anxiety while promoting mental clarity. This can significantly impact your mood and productivity throughout the day.

3. Establishes Consistency:

Mornings often offer a quieter and more predictable time compared to the rest of the day. By prioritizing a workout in the morning, you're more likely to stick to your routine, avoiding the unforeseen distractions or commitments that can arise later in the day.

4. Improves Sleep Quality:

Regular morning workouts contribute to a more regulated sleep pattern. Physical activity helps regulate your body's internal clock, promoting deeper and more restful sleep at night, leading to a refreshed start the next morning.

5. Increases Focus and Productivity:

Exercise stimulates brain function, improving concentration and cognitive abilities. By getting your blood pumping early, you set the stage for increased focus and productivity throughout the day.

6. Boosts Metabolism and Weight Management:

Morning exercise revs up your metabolism, allowing your body to burn more calories throughout the day. Additionally, studies suggest that morning workouts might reduce food cravings and make healthier food choices.

Tips for Starting Morning Workouts:

1. Set a Realistic Alarm: Gradually adjust your wake-up time to allow for enough rest while ensuring you have ample time to exercise.

2. Prepare the Night Before: Lay out your workout clothes, set up your equipment, and plan your routine to minimize morning decisions and streamline your workout.

3. Start Slowly: Begin with shorter workouts and gradually increase the intensity and duration as your body adjusts to the new routine.

4. Stay Consistent: Consistency is key to reaping the benefits of morning exercise. Stick to your routine, even on days when motivation is low.

Incorporating morning workouts into your daily life can have a transformative impact on your physical health, mental well-being, and overall productivity. Making this small adjustment to your routine can yield significant and lasting benefits, setting a positive tone for the entire day ahead. Embrace the morning and let exercise empower you to conquer each day with renewed vitality and enthusiasm!
